LEEDS UNITED LAUNCHES ESPORTS AND GAMING COMMUNITY “LEEDS FURY” WITH RIVAL

Premier League club launches online community for fans to participate, compete and communicate with each other in popular gaming titles

NEW YORK (Feb. 17, 2022) – English Premier League club, Leeds United, has today announced its further expansion into gaming and esports with the creation of its new gaming platform, “Leeds Fury.” The launch of the club’s dedicated gaming community will allow sports and gaming fans across the world to participate in regular tournaments and events leveraging the technology and platform of fan engagement leader Rival.

Building on the success of its partnership with esports powerhouse Ninjas In Pyjamas (NiP) and a successful appearance in the ePremier League, Leeds United will launch dedicated Leeds Fury channels including a website, Twitter account and Instagram page.

The move aims to allow participation at all levels, from recreation and casual gaming through to competitive play, ultimately aiming to provide players with a route into professional tournaments.

Leeds will utilize Rival’s leading fan engagement platform to facilitate gaming leagues and virtual tournaments across different game titles and platforms. Rival powers the gaming communities for more than 30 partners worldwide, across sports properties, media, tech and brands.

The first Leeds Fury tournament will go live February 19, and launch titles for players will include EA Sports FIFA22, Fortnite, Minecraft, Call of Duty and Rocket League with other titles to come.

“This is an exciting next step into our gaming and esports journey. We want to provide our fans and the wider sports and gaming community with an easy way to connect and play across all competition levels of esports. Our partnership with Rival combined with our dedicated gaming channels provides our fans with a simple way to engage with esports,” said Global Head of Digital at Leeds United Aaron Duckmanton.

“Rival is thrilled to partner with Leeds United and build on their progressive approach to leveraging esports and gaming within the club’s broader fan engagement strategy,” said Rival Chief Marketing Officer Dan Parise. “We look forward to working together to elevate the gaming experience with the launch of the Leeds Fury platform while providing innovative ways to build the Leeds United brand and offerings to its corporate partners.”
