RIVAL TO POWER NBA 2K LEAGUE’S FIRST-EVER AMATEUR QUALIFIERS

NEW YORK (May 12, 2022) As the NBA 2K League has expanded its league to a tournament-based format, it has engaged with fan and engagement platform provider Rival to facilitate its global amateur qualifying tournaments in the Coinbase NBA 2KL 3v3 Blacktop Series.

Showcasing the rapid growth of the League and esports, NBA 2K recently announced its expanded league format, which now provides the opportunity for amateurs to face off against professional players for the first time ever. The League’s qualifying amateur tournaments for the Coinbase NBA 2KL 3×3 Blacktop Series will be powered by Rival’s proprietary technology platform.

Rival will be powering virtual tournaments qualifiers across the globe in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe. The first set of North American Qualifiers successfully wrapped the first week in April.

“As a connector and fan engagement driver, Rival’s platform has the scale and ability to serve every gamer, from the casual players to the pros, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to collaborate with the NBA 2K League as it expands its league format and offerings for its fans and players across the globe,” said Rival CRO Paul Brewer.

Powering more than 35 clients across sports properties, media and technology organizations and brands, the NBA 2K League partnership is Rival’s first with an esports League.
